Solid Beginnings
In Appleby’s it all begins with our workshop.  This is really the engine-room of our business.  Our Goldsmiths, Setters and Designers have served long apprenticeships to develop their truely amazing artisan skills. Our goldsmiths work in an environment where the most ancient techniques are blended with the most leading-edge technology, to deliver exquisite, heirloom quality pieces. Repair and Renew
Whether you have a treasured piece which is showing some wear and tear, or something that you might like to have re-fashioned into a new piece, our knowledgable staff will be delighted to help you. (*Please note Covid-19 restrictions below).

If you are insuring your treasured piece, your insurance company may require an up to date valuation from a qualified source. Our gemmology and workshop teams can provide this for you for standard pieces.  Antique or specialist pieces may require a specialist valuation, which we would not provide, but would be happy to advise you on.  (*Please note Covid-19 restrictions below).

In order to protect you our customer and equally importantly our staff, we are operating under some very restrictive safety measures. This involves splitting our teams in both our shop and workshop to minimise any potential for cross infection.  Effectively this means that we only have 50% of our workshop staff on the premises at any time. Consequently we are only accepting the most urgent jobs at the moment and completion times are much longer.

If you have an item that needs repair, please send an email to, including your phone number and, if possible, a picture of the item.  We will call you to discuss what is required and how to get it into us. Unfortunately, due to the restrictions, it is taking approximately eight weeks to complete repair work at the moment.

Because we are operating with such reduced productivity, we are restricting our insurance valuation service, solely to Appleby sourced pieces.  If you have had a previous insurance valuation, within the last five years, it is unlikely that there has been a material change in value.   We can provide you with a letter to extend our previous valuation.  We have had discussions with various insurance industry bodies and most will accept such an extension with a few exceptions.

If you require a valuation, please send an email to including your phone number, and we will call you to discuss the particular item.
N.B.:  It remains important that your piece is regularly checked under magnification by a qualified jeweller.  If you have any concerns, please email including your phone number and we will make an arrangement with you.
