Ethical Diamonds

At Appleby, our reputation has always been built on trust, integrity, and exceptional craftsmanship. We are deeply proud that every natural diamond we offer is sourced through the Kimberley Process, ensuring it is conflict-free and responsible.

Appleby Jewellers can identify the origin of your diamond, trace its journey from the mine and its impact on surrounding local communities.

The natural diamond industry funds real livelihoods, schools, and healthcare. This ensures your diamond is not only a symbol of love, but also one chosen with integrity and respect for both people and planet.

The Kimberley Process

The Kimberley Process is an international certification scheme established in 2003 to prevent the trade of conflict diamonds. Today, it represents a global commitment involving more than 80 countries, ensuring that every diamond exported and imported under the scheme is traceable, conflict-free, and responsibly traded.

Through strict controls and transparency, the Kimberley Process is widely recognised as one of the most significant ethical safeguards in the jewellery industry.

At Appleby, we are proud that every natural diamond we offer is sourced through the Kimberley Process. This guarantees that each stone is not only beautiful and rare, but also ethically acquired. Combined with independent GIA certification and our gemologists’ careful hand-selection, the Kimberley Process allows us to promise our customers both exceptional quality and complete peace of mind when choosing an engagement ring.

Supporting Communities

Natural diamonds play a vital role in supporting education, healthcare, and infrastructure in diamond-producing countries. A significant portion of the revenue from the diamond industry is reinvested into local communities, funding critical projects such as schools, healthcare facilities, and infrastructure development (including roads, water systems, and electricity). These investments improve living standards and drive long-term economic growth in diamond mining regions. By supporting community development, the diamond industry helps create sustainable, thriving communities.

Where Are
Diamonds Found?

The majority of our diamonds are sourced from Canada and Botswana. Diamonds are discovered through geological exploration and extracted from kimberlite pipes or alluvial deposits. Fewer than 30 active diamond mines operate worldwide today.
