Appleby began not with a storefront, but with a woman at her workbench, honing her craft.
In 1950s Dublin, Margaret Appleby began making fine jewellery by hand in the family home, creating bespoke pieces for a small circle of discerning clients. Her work was defined by precision, integrity, and an instinctive understanding that jewellery carries meaning far beyond its materials.
By 1960, Margaret and her husband John Appleby took the next step together, opening their first shop at Johnson’s Court. What followed was not rapid expansion, but steady devotion to craft, to customers, and to the belief that excellence is built over time.
Across the decades, Appleby became one of Ireland’s most trusted and loved jewellery houses, renowned for exceptional service and uncompromising workmanship. Still family-owned and managed today, Appleby remains guided by the same values Margaret set in place. Our name is above the door and we honour it in everything we do.
